Hey guys,
This weekend was a HUGE weekend for us and Poppy. It was not without its emotional rollercoaster and be prepared for me to call for help with fueling and getting the engine tuned properly in the near future. I spent a lot of the weekend playing the game of reading the Haynes manual and trying to figure out what things are in the engine bay and we've found a handful of things we can't quite figure out from the manual and staring at engine bay photos. Here's a folder of everything and if anyone has any ideas on what these remnants could be please let me know: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nrT4JJvoPt3apgjzXi_Hylsgh3pvJ3KB?usp=sharing
BUT in the column for things accomplished this weekend: new expansion tank bracket and tank with a full coolant drain and flush, fixed a handful of vac leaks, installed a new o2 sensor as the one in the car was literally cut into two pieces, new spark plugs (separate post coming soon most likely on the ones we pulled out), and DISCOVERED THESE THINGS HAVE A HOOD PROP _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

Your mystery items look to be all from the AC system being removed.
Wires for compressor, wires behind the headlight for the pressure switch by the drier, and a cut hose. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Awesome, thanks Vaughan! I can pull out/wrap up the wires and the hose can live in the firewall unbothered. Is there anything else to look around for remnants wise with the AC system? I think they literally hacked it out of the car.
Do you happen to know what the wires in the wheel well are? _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

In-tank fuel pump wires. Someone has replaced it with a strainer on your car so you no longer have an in-tank fuel pump - if you did have one then that big hex where the fuel outlet hose exits the tank would have 2 spade terminals on it where these wires would have plugged in.
Tape them off, tie them up, and forget about them. |

Thanks Raize!!! I'll have to investigate the strainer situation at some point, but good to know I'm not running completely on magic for fuel XD I was seriously questioning (and still kinda am) how this was getting fuel with two somewhat important looking connectors just hanging out _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

The external fuel pump is the silver cylindrical thing with other wires going to it and performs the heavy lifting when it comes to fueling.
The strainer is not a problem, you will lose interest in investigating the in-tank pump as soon as you see the price of them. Loads of people running strainers with no problems. |
