|
|
Hi folks,
I plan to release a new production of mechanical tappets.
199€ for the set of 8 for the first units sold. 219€ then. All prices excl. VAT (I never charge VAT).
Some other productions are made of poor quality from my point of view for various reasons. Moreover I feel they are quite expensive, especially for what they are. That's why I decided to release mines.
I know that you like tech. These tappets will be :
- Cold forged, so at least as strong as OEM tappets that are forged from factory.
- Made of OEM material
- Treated with a slight derivative of the OEM treatment. This one shows lower friction and wear. It was established in the 80's-2010 as THE treatment for tappets. Material compatibility with the cam will be preserved though as chemistry is nearly identical.
- 5 g lighter each with original strength is ensured.
- Clearance adjustment will be as OEM. Hence, it's much easier than grinding shims and removing the cam every time.
- Coated with a low friction, running in coating (as OEM).
I'm working on the project for long months.
I need to reach 40 registrations to make this project worth possible. I hope you will support this opportunity and the work. Delivering from September.
Thanks! _________________ https://classic-line.eu

There are at least 4 separate groups of lifters for the NA engines from lesser to greater height adjustments. Does your lifter cover any of the possible combinations? If so, how? _________________ 1979 924 NA race car

The 4 groups you are talking about concerns the adjustment screw not the tappet itself. These will not be sold with the tappet (as in the Porsche catalog). _________________ https://classic-line.eu |

I may be down for a set. Would there be any problem running these with an old cam? I know on some engines, you're either taking a risk or guaranteeing failure if you put new tappets on an old cam, or reuse old lifters on a new cam (a lot of older American V8s are like this). I'm hoping that's not an issue; despite its very suspect history, the cam in my car looks great. I may start rebuilding my engine as soon as this winter, so the timing is good (I probably would have said the same a year ago though...). Less weight and lower friction are both big plusses. I'm not planning on anything radical with my rebuild, but any tweaks that free up power and give more RPM headroom are of interest. _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |

Not sure how big issue it really is for weekend cars, i have used second hand buckets thats been in there for many years, that still looks great. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Hello,
Sorry I missed your message.
I don't think there is any particular risk to run new lifters on an old original cam, as far a it is in PERFECT condition. If you have any doubt, replace it.
There is nothing radical to come with these lifters. They are just a light optimization of the OE ones. _________________ https://classic-line.eu |
