trying this again
Hi everyone, as I've begun digging into Poppy, I keep finding random parts from VW and Audi as we all know these were parts bin cars. However, I can't find a good list of all the parts that are (or supposed to be) Audi and VW. This rabbit hole started with me changing out my crunchy swollen sun visors for new ones and needing the visor clips. I went to my favorite place (the junkyard) and pulled some visor clips. Upon inspection, they have an Audi stamp and an Audi part number different from the Porsche part number. Yes, sun visor clips are what has sent me down the rabbit hole.
I found this godsend of a post but its for 944s so I will be slowly figuring out what is or is not cross compatible, https://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=33528 I have also found the parts page with PNs on here which I have been putting to good use, but I'm looking for some more electrical components and interior pieces as well.
I wasn't sure if someone has already compiled a list that I haven't been able to find yet, so I figured I'll ask the parents. If there isn't one solid cohesive list, I'll begin compiling one as I get more into Poppy because my sanity is being tested with the PN game. _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

I wish I had a list too - it'd help a lot. The Porsche parts catalog is no use because they just put a Porsche part number on the VW part along with their markup; it'd be really helpful if they cross-referenced, but not good for their bottom line. A few times, just digging through RockAuto's mid-70s VW parts turns up what I'm looking for, but it's hard to keep track of which model. Also, while major assemblies were wholly or partly taken from certain models, a lot of smaller parts (particularly electronics) were even more widely shared. I think if you took all the VW parts off a 924, you'd be able to find something to fit every model within that mid-70s timeframe. Keep in mind too, some of even those VW parts can be in scarce supply. Still, having such a list would be helpful, and particularly, if it had not just the VW part number, but also what VWs it was used in to help with junk yard shopping. _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |

Yeah Beartooth I think your mind is where mine's at with trying to source from Audi or VW to save some money on parts. I will begin my list and as I find more parts-bin parts I will add them on.
If you or anyone else knows any off of the top of their head let me know! _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

I have found another 944 compatibility parts list, I am hoping if I dig enough I'll find one for a 924. Huge props to this person because its really well done https://www.deancent.com/porsche-944-parts-without-the-premium-price-tag/ _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure
