Hello all,
I recently bought a '77 924 as my first project car ever. The main issue with the car is reassembling the fuel injection system. While waiting for some parts to ship in, I wanted to work on the pop-up headlights as a cool first start. However, they're acting weird.

With the lights DOWN flipping the switch from OFF to ON does nothing, untll I manually screw the motor arm to about 15% open then the motor kicks in and opens all the way. With the lights OPEN flipping the switch from ON to OFF works as you'd expect but then going from OFF to ON does not raise the lights until the manual screwing as I mentioned.

I have checked the relay, leads, connections and they all seem to be in order. I would like to see if anyone has any insights into this problem or even how the motor works before I proceed and waste time. I also have the Haynes book on this car.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had problem with popups not working and it was the little white connector that goes to the motor itself. It was loose, I wiggled it and now the popups work. Maybe when your popups are up the connectors or wires are stretched and in contact, and when the popups are down the wires are loose and don't have connection. I am just guessing...

This fault is likely at the rotary switch located within the headlight motor assembly. There is great information on these assemblies at www.clarks-garage.com Although the info contained there is for the 944 models, the 924 should utilize a similar if not the same design.
