Hello everyone!
I’m hoping for some assistance if I can… I’m trying to replace the standard points on a 77 2.0 with a Hall effect module from accuspark. From testing, I can see there is a ballast resistor somewhere - but I’m struggling to find it!
I have two wires to + on the coil, on traces back to the alternator wiring! But the other appears to disappear into the main loom. I’ve had the fuse box and the only thing I’ve found is that rain isnt the best time to do electrics…!
There are no ballast resistors near the coil, and while there is a round ballast under the dash (N/s below the heater vent, this looks like it runs the fan blower from the fuse diagram.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? The accuspark unit requires a direct 12v supply but I can’t find the ballast to bypass for it! |

Ballast resistor is just a wire with resistance, don't look for a regular resistor
What I would do, I'd just put a new wire from the fuse box, or anywhere else close in the engine bay (+12V when turned key into IGN position) and leave the factory +12V one to coil insulated.
BTW the one that goes to the alternator should not be there. _________________ ---
