I haven't written much about my car, a 1979 NA. I found it really cheap (almost free) in very bad condition.
Welded up the bad rust, floor, rockers, battery box, rear wheel tubs, spare wheel tub, front inner fenders. Basically the whole car. Just for kicks.
Then I read about "Project Black" and got a bit inspired...
Fabricated a turbo kit, converted to EFI, "rebuilt" the engine.
Then I headed to the dyno (last spring), it was both a success and somewhat of a let down.
The good thing was that it ran flawless up to 1 bar on regular pump gas.
The bad was that above 1 bar the clutch slipped so I could't go higher  , I was planing on using E85 above 1.2 or something like that.
It made 236 hp and 330 Nm at the wheels. 330 was pretty good for that clutch since it was only speced for 300Nm as I gathered later. Last week I upgraded the clutch to one rated at 500 Nm.
At the current power and boost level I'm just into the efficiency of the compressor, can push it above 2 bar with no issue, probably closer to 3, but I'm not desperate to destroy the engine and transmission....
When the weather and roads gets better I'm going to brake-in the new clutch and head back to the dyno. I'm really curious how far a stock engine can be pushed!
Its pretty fun to drive as is, really scoots when the turbo comes in above 3000 and makes cool noises when you let of the throttle!
Stock NA engine internals with the exception of:
*An NA-performance cam, not sure that does anything good in a boosted application.
*Slightly ported head, a "cleanup" I would call it.
*Larger ring gap.

Cool. What ECU do you run? Any fancy sensors (knock, FlexFuel, as you mentioned E85, others?), or just old school bare minimum to run it?
Stock pistons? Which CR?

Finally , i know there are a bunch of people interested in this build, maybe because i mentioned it. Though some Images would probably be nice for people who doesn't know the car details

Maxxecu Street, a really competent system for reasonable money. In hindsight I should have gone for the bigger Sport or Race version. I'm lacking in mainly inputs, that could be solved by a can bus extension.
No knock-sensor, the "Race version" has knock capability. But I was expecting to use E85 so knock isn't an issue at all.
I got a flexfuel sensor, not sure if I'm going to use that for the tuning, its quite a lot of work to get it right according to my tuner and for little use.
Just wideband o2 and one egt sensor, oil pressure and oil temp.
I would like to add more stuff like fuel pressure, air temp pre intercooler etc. Inputs for boost maps, anti lag etc.
I have launch control so I can leave under boost.
Yes, stock pistons at stock CR.
The system is pretty basic and I have been cheap where possible, but its never going to be cheap....
I've spent on the ECU, the turbo (Borg Warner S200 SX-E 7070 S252 0.63) and the fuel lines. I have almost only PTFE AN fuel lines and metal lines under the car.
Huge (600x300x76 mm) cheap china intercooler in the front.

Sometimes i use my rejsa.nu uploaded pics on here or imgbb. com for example, though the long term future is always uncertain for free upload hosts.

Interiour:
I didn't think that would cut it so had a custom one made with factory fabric.
The center console is getting the same tartan instead of the tan in the picture as I type this.

Dash and seats were somewhat decent  
Cool build, nice to see another effort to push the standard engine.
So about 110 extra HP for 1bar of manifold pressure.
Pretty damn good if you look at it from percentage point of view, you nearly doubled the performance of the european 924.

More, this is wheel hp. The tuner (Martin Lundkvist @ Luntec) guesstimated it to 270ish crank based on the difference he used to see between his engine dyno and this hub dyno.
He had 2 engine dynos inside the shop, the big one capable of 4000hp. He was/is a drag racer and did a lot of tuning on his and other cars. He mentioned being being first over 400 km/h in his class, or something like that. Volvo was a specialty of his, porting, grinding his own cams. I was really impressed by this guy.
I had a 951 before with 290ish hp, probably more as it had no boost control. This 924 feels very near to that. I don't doubt that it has 270 on the crank.

Just looked up the golf 7 gti, makes 230hp at the crank at 1.2bar
So the 924 NA engine at 1bar makes 270 at the crank.
I suspect that the emissions standards that the new cars have to meet sap so much power but still, the 924 is damn good, even today.

Citroen C5 I think, don't remember. 16x7" (Made by Michelin), media blasted and powder coated. I have some gold alloys also.
I have a contact that helps me with powder coating. The entire suspension and stuff have been media blasted and powder coated. Except the front struts that will be changed for Gaz struts when the time comes.
