So, if you'd bet me there isn't another 924 turbo in a 100-mile radius from me, I'd be tempted. If the bet was no S1, I'd probably take it in a heartbeat. But I noticed this thing literally across the street from the machine shop I dropped off my exhaust manifold with.

I couldn't resist taking a closer look when I picked the manifold up today. As best I can tell, it's a 931 with 944 fenders and front bumper. Not only does it have the 931 vents, I was able to confirm it's a turbo engine, and the charge tube at least is S1 material. Here's a picture through the hogged out hood scoop:

But wait, there's more to the picture. If you picked this up from the first picture, you are (unlike me) a 924 eagle eye.

Yes, the rims are different front to back, but it's not just that. Five lugs in front, four in back. And now the kicker, but for some reason I didn't take a picture, and you probably won't believe me. The left rear is five lug with a disk brake. God only knows what circumstances led to this. I assume the car must have come with the upgraded brakes, something happened on the right rear, and so somebody got the parts from a drum brake car and swapped them on. I have no idea how long it's been there: it's not in a place I go by that often, and it's not one I've seen listed or sale. To fix up a car like this would be a real labor of love; mine's a walk in the park by comparison. I just had to share it because somebody worked on this car a lot, and made some, ah, interesting choices.

That’s the exact front bumper I have been wanting to get for the 941!

It’s a 924 GTS front bumper, almost certainly a replica.. (think GTS, but real sure it’s some 924 GT version)

Yep there it is..
https://americaninternationalracing.com/product/924-gts-front-bumper/

And judging by the way the hood matches the bumper, I’d guess that is also a fiberglass hood from the same company with their fiberglass Carrera GT hood scoop..

Yes 944 front fenders..

The car must be an 80.. S1 and provisions for the gas cap lid..

And those might be Fuchs front wheels, which are quite desirable/valuable especially if they are 16s, but even 15s..
He might have all 4..
Could be cookie cutters though, can’t tell..

I’d think it was a 4 lug car and he never finished putting all the 5 lug on it..

I’d be seeing if he wanted to sell it..
Good chance he has the rear Carrera GT wide body fender flares lying around somewhere too, and the rest of those wheels.. He might have all sorts of cool parts for it, and if he abandoned this project, could be a big score!
Worth looking into..

I figured that car would be a treasure trove of parts. I took a closer look at the pictures and can't tell much more on the wheels even at full resolution; they are rough though. Also, I don't think they're Fuchs: they're a blocky five-spoke design I know I've seen on other 80's Porsches, but I can't find a picture of one. They look like 15s to me. Incidentally, there is a set of Fuch's listed near me: https://bozeman.craigslist.org/wto/d/bozeman-porsche-fuchs-8-16/7529855294.html

I'll make a point to drive by now and then and see what I can find out. Hard to tell how long it's been sitting there. It would be a cool car all fixed up, but man, would it take a lot of work (and parts, if those got separated or sold; that alone might drive parting it). Even if it's not for sale, it would be worth finding the owner. Come to think of it, if he's still got the fenders and valance, I'd love to get my hands on them. Somebody hit something with the left front of my car; it's fixable, but I'd have a hard time getting it come out real nice doing it myself... Anyway, I'll definitely update if I'm able to find anything out.
