|
|
Hi all
All interior lighting works in my 924 except for the boot light. The switch has 3 positions. One of them turning the light off completely. The other two seem to be doing the exact same thing. They let the boot light turned on regarless of the boot being open or closed. And it only lights up with the headlights turned on, similar to how the engine bay light wokrs.
I'd like to have the boot light only turn on when I actually open the boot. Any ideas how I can achieve that?
Thanks in advance |

Boot light is controlled (as far as I know) by a sliding switch on the base of one of the hatch struts. It has a short somewhere, causing the contact to open and the light to come on. _________________ 1980 Porsche 931

I've read about that too but it's weird because the boot light only lights up with the headlights turned on. It's not like the interior lighting which lights up as soon as the battery is connected. |

[quote]because the boot light only lights up with the headlights turned on.
That is correct for early (1976-8 ish). The rear hatch light will only come on with the 3 position switch with lights on. Later cars had the hatch light come on with the interior lights being operated by the door contact switch and a special hatch strut with with a switch. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

Okay, thanks! So then two of the positions on that 3-way switch have the same function on earlier cars? |

I am positive the hatch light on early cars only operates when lights are on (it caused me some confusion on the Martini!), but cannot recall whether there was a special hatch strut on the early cars same as later cars which operates interior lights all the time and hatch light when lights are on, memory is a bit rusty, been a while since I had the early car. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic
