After just 9 months of ownership, 2000 euro worth of parts, and a trip to the netherlands i think i just want to be done with this thing.

I saved up 9000 euro from my first job out of high school for about three years to buy this car, finally buying it in June 2025 and safe to say i was loving it. I drove it to work every friday, i installed a good sound system, original side decals and spray guards, did my best to keep it parked away from the elements, washed it every other week, etc.

Now however the fun has vanished and im now only left with anxiety. The AC system is busted and full of metal shavings and acidic jelly because the morons that had it before me "converted" the R12 system to R134a by simply screwing a refill adaptor to it and calling it a day, the starter motor is dying, the brake booster lung leaks the vacuum, and despite my best efforts (new engine mounts, exhaust supports, alu-butyl sound deadening on the interior) it still feels like being inside a machining shop when im driving and the temper the engine has keeps driving me up the wall.

It was fun while it lasted, it taught me many lessons and i still think its one of the prettiest cars i could own, but ultimately the 924 is not for me.

Either your expectations are Maserati levels, or there is something else wrong with your car thats not the engine mounts. Everything you described is not the car's fault but yours or the people who worked on it.
I would be a shame to give up and abandon a dream.
Try to do better, if you're near Rome i can send you to a friend that knows these cars really well.

Sorry to hear this one has turned sour on you; it sounds like a decent car that was probably shined up and had some mechanical issues swept under the rug. Unfortunately, all too common - not that that thought helps much when it's you dealing with it. I suggest just setting the AC aside for now. My car doesn't have it, and I still enjoy it on all but the most miserable days. It's definitely fixable, and possibly for a lot less money than you might think. Unfortunately, even "professional" shops often do a sketchy job with retrofits. If the compressor isn't ruined, it probably only needs $150 worth of parts, and maybe not that much labor if you find a shop that's decent.

The vibrations are a strange one - unless you just have very high expectations. Probably something's wrong with it, because my ratty old car doesn't bother me like that to drive. It can't compare to my Mercedes, but it's quiet and comfortable enough that I don't think twice about driving it 40 miles into town on a nice day. A new starter and brake booster would be easily tackled in an afternoon.

Ultimately, if you enjoyed driving it to start with, I'd suggest sticking with it and putting some effort into getting it back into shape - giving yourself a year or so. I'm guessing part of the disgust with it is the financial hit you took on it, and even if you could fix it all yourself you'd be unlikely to get out what you've put into it. But I think you might be able to love the car again if you can work through the issues. Also, as much trouble as it may be, if you can get it to the right mechanic, that will make all the difference - definitely look into morghen's suggestion if that's a possibility at all.
