I have a supposedly rebuilt alternator for my NA. Standard wires are B+ to battery and D+ for ground. On the back if a normal alternator is a round voltage regulator and a second small rectangular box that goes from a + connection and appears to be grounded to the case. on my rebuilt the smaller molded rectangular box is missing and there is also a W male plug. The rebuilt says it is a 75amp unit and physically the same size. Anyone have an idea what the smaller rectangular box does? will this alternator work for me? None of this wiring in back shows up on the Haynes wiring diagrams. _________________ Mike

I called a automotive electrical repair shop and he said that the smaller rectangle is a condenser similar to the old points distributor condensers. Car doesn't have a radio so it is not needed for my purposes. _________________ Mike
