has anyone else had this issue? I got a strut brace that came off a 944, but when put on the 924, it doesnt line up, its about 6mm narrower. Debating on how to make it fit. I feel like I have to cut one side of the bar off and reweld the end piece on _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |

I bought a strut brace from a 931 (rarely see one that fits). It didnt line up on my car, and it didnt fit over the engine either
Couldnt you just make the screw holes oval to make it fit ? _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Good point, i measured mine on jackstands and then on the ground, it differed av couple of mm if i remember correctly. I also jacked it up on the side at 45 degree angle to see if they would move under side load, and there were no measurable movement. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Its on the ground. I doubt the chasis would flex that much, youd probably see that at the side of the hood _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |

My bar is very similar, Ive seen it mounted on a 931. I saw it in a "for sale" for a car, and asked if I could buy the bar separately. But obviously my engine sits higher than his, since my boost pipe hits the bar.
In this pic you can see the difference between jackstand (sat there for a year) and dropped down on the wheels.
The bar looks like this, similar to yours.

Well, I pulled it off the 944 it was on, and it fit fine on that.
the side gaps with the hood closed are fine and about "normal"
so are the 924s build slightly different than the 944? _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |

Interesting: So apparently, I did have the car jacked up slightly, just a couple inches, but the wheels were still touching the ground, SO I decided to jack it up so the front wheels were fully off the ground. and monitor the Mounting hole Pictured, Noticed no change.
THEN, I fully lower the car and noticed I the hole offest got even bigger, now its about 8mm off. _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |

Time for a big lump of 4 x 2 between motor and suspension turret......no marks, no fuss.
You could always relieve the holes...all of them including the strut tower mounting points. _________________ 80/81 932/8 ROW |

Can you actually feel any difference with this brace?
Never driven a 9x4 on the track, but maybe the heft in the front makes a difference. I've had them on and off on my old 911 and quite truthfully I can't tell the difference. I have less trunk space with it... _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

Well, Ill be honest I didnt think it would make a big difference either, But after seeing how much it moved, just by unloading it, I can imagine, with the side loading and the weight of the engine in a turn, it could be noticeable.
The 911 has even less weight up front, since in a hard turn, the Lump in the rear is wanting to make the tail of the car rotate around. _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |
