Hi all
Today finally tried to crank my 924 after connecting almost all wiring, which I was rebuilding since summer 2020. It didn’t start, but it didn’t go on fire either. Starter spinning, and some dash lights working. Volt meter working. As there was no spark noticed, I assume problem can be in “green coaxial wire”, which goes from distributor to ecu. I have replaced the original wire, which in my case was cut, with two wires, with usual small connectors, and routed them to terminals 3 and 5 on ecu. Since it didn’t seem to work I have also tried to flip them with no result. I am using Haynes manual for wiring but for my year it features idle stabilizer which I am trying to bypass since I assume it is not present in my car.
Any help greatly apreciated. I have the original connector in 3/5 condition, with like 20 cm of wire in it. Is it a good idea to go and try to find some electric repair shop and ask to fabricate a new wire into that connector?
Hope it runs well next spring |

| Must add that I did not insulate these connectors inside distributor in any special way. Seems like some kind of fragile signal has to be transmitted from there, so I will try to insulate them better and crank again. Hopefully i’ll Not do any harm to ecu from all that. Also, I have replaced all wiring at the fuel pump with correct size wires as in Haynes, because there were some extra wires present, probably for extra voltage or smth. So I wonder if the fuel pump works, new fuel filter as well so maybe I need to somehow remove air from the system? Once a guy helped me on the road when in had troubles in my Audi, and he unscrewed the injectors on 1.9tdi motor and calibrated them until the car fired well. That was after complete emptying my tank while on work trip. I wonder do I have to do same thing after replacing the filter, as the air probably got into fuel lines? |
