Wow, just wow. If I lived closer I'd come over just to get a whiff of that new car smell.

People have scoffed at the price of Thomas' repro dashes. But look at the quality in those photos.
Swapping is super easy. The only issue is being scared to nick, scratch or mark that perfect new dash.
Good luck. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

So far so good...taking my time. I'm learning that 40 year old plastic parts are brittle. I've had to made some new tabs with "Plastex" and fill some cracks. One small section of the center console fell apart as I was removing the switch for the electric mirror. I was able to repair that with Plastex as well. Source: https://www.plastex.net (also on Amazon, shipping is less)
I suppose I could just buy another HVAC panel Ebay (or not worry about it), but wanted to see if I could do it.
Missing tab circled. Using putty to make mold from the tab below.
Mix up the Plastex and drop mixture into mold
Allow to harden. Use razor blade to trim and emory board to sand down.
New tab

This is getting complicated.
Luckily installation is the reverse of removal.

Is it fibreglass framed?
How does the colour, shine and grain structure compare to the original? _________________ /Magnus, Stockholm Sweden

I believe that it is fiberglass. It feels very solid though.
Here are some comparison pictures. The old dashboard has some lighter brown highlights....not sure how to describe. Also not sure if that is the result of 40 years of sunshine. The texture is very similar to me.
But truthfully when I look at the old dash, the only thing I see are the cracks.

Removing the side dash vents didn't go so well. I barely touched the tabs and they broke off. The plastic is so brittle!
Anyone have a source for mint condition, non-faded, brown dash vents?
Maybe I could find a nice set from an early 944?
These will work for now I guess.

This is a special German material found throughout our cars. The same material comprises many critical electrical connectors.
Its name is "Brittelsheiß." _________________ Toofah King Bad

Making some progress.
The new dashboard is in the car but still need to make some adjustments and still fighting with the center console. So many wires.
I also had the odometer on the speedo fixed while it was out of the car. Also replaced the ignition switch while I was in there.
As you can see, the side vents are no longer brown. I need to replace the trim piece for the headlight switch; that should be fairly easy to find in better shape. I replaced the trim piece for the hazards and rear window defogger....nice match.

More progress. Still need to adjust the glove box a bit.
I installed the switch for the intercooler pump/cooling fan in the center console opposite of the stereo fader knob.
