Hello all,

I just got a 1976 924 and am currently putting it back together after replacing the head gasket, belts and water pump.
I can't seem to find the correct mounting point for the bracket on this wiring harness next to the auxiliary air valve. I tried screwing it on with the same bolt which the three thinner brown wires are mounted with. I can't tighten that bolt though when I put the bolt through that bracket for that wiring harness.

On the three pictures you can see me pointing to that wiring harness bracket I can't find a mounting point for and also two other pictures taken from a different angle.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Merry Christmas!

Hello Philip,

You’re looking at the right place.
What is missing though is the L-bracket witch originally is held by that top bolt of the WUR, and carries the wires on its other side.

Example by g00gle:

Tip: Hold down one of the copper eyed wires by a bolt in the AAV's 'feet'.

Kind regards,
Harm.

Hello again,

Happe new year!

I got my 924 started for the first time after buying it with the engine in bits. It doesn't run really smoothly though and I was wondering if you knew what I should check. Once started I have to keep it at about 1500rpm otherwise the engine starts shaking quite badly and at idle when it's warmed up it still has moments when it starts shaking/stuttering. When I'm driving it, it keeps stuttering under 3000rpm and above 4600 or so.
I was thinking I might check the compression in every cylinder and check if it delivers enough fuel through the injectors in that certain time period it says in the manual.

Any reply would be great. Thanks!

Congratulations! Nice you got it to run.

The engines intake side needs to be able to bring each pistons pull for air over to the fuel distributor’s air flap that will actuate the injection of gasoline… What you need is vacuum: So first you need to take out ALL vacuum leaks, from the injector seals to the Fuel Distributor’s rubber boot.
This system allows no room for leaks and should be able to spin like a kitten on 850 rpm when everything is in working order.

Asure there is good ground between engine block and the firewall/battery.
The engine’s electrical harness should be in good nick for WUR, cold- and hotstart.

Then look up any of the "K-Jet-Fehlersuche” in print or watch the videos on youtube to set the right amount of fuel consumption and find that sweet spot in Spark timing.

HTH
Harm.

Okay, thank you! Will look into that.

Best regards
