Questions for the group. I have put the 924 away for the winter here in Canada so I have some time to go through a few things to improve the car overall. Here is what i am thinking of for this winter season.
1. I want to get a better feel when I change gears. Right now the shifter is very sloppy and loose. I have been dealing with it, but now I want better. What have you folks done to get a better, crisper feel when shifting? Maybe even shorten the throw a bit so that I can shift a bit faster when on the track.
Car is a 4 speed, if that matters.
2. The car doesn't like to start when it is cold. It will catch and then die a few times. This is more pronounced when the temperature is under 10 Celsius. After watching season 15 of Wheeler Dealers where they fixed up a 1977 924 that was running rough, I am curious if I am looking at a similar issue, in terms of the Warm up regulator. Has anyone rebuilt one of these?
Looking to hear your suggestions, thanks in advance. _________________ Cheers;

Get the shifter repaired, there is a tutorial here somewhere in the how to section. Also, replace the rear bushing, it can be done with everything on the car, you will crawl to reach for the bushing but it can be done and it makes a big difference.
Dont go for shorther throw. Simply because it will unbalange the ergonomics of the car, the steering and pedals will feel different compared to the shifter and its not easy to change the feeling of the pedals or steering.
The factory dialed them all together in the same feeling category, i suggest keeping it factory.
Get the WUR rebuilt at a know professional shop.
My new NA does exactly the same like yours, starts right away because the 5th injector is firing but then dies. I'm going to replace the injectors with new ones and get the WUR refurbished and tuned according spec.
I suggest you do the same. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Only944.com has a shift linkage arm that costs $26 and takes out a couple of the bushings back their. It fits all the Audi based transmissions, his short shift kit fits the 5 speeds only. Apparently the shift linkage arm is a bear to change with the tranny in the car as t it crosses on top of the tranny. When I got mine the car was completely dismantled and I had cut the back deck out for a fuel cell so it wasn't an issue. The car hasn't run yet so I can't really compare it to how my '77 works. _________________ Mike

So out at my dads house this afternoon, we took apart a WUR (he has a few different models laying around) the one we looked at is the same as in our cars. These are a sealed unit, so there should be no dirt or anything inside the WUR. When we had the sample apart there is, what I would guess is a plunger, this plunger can be raised and lowered, it does need some tapping with a hammer to make it move. I am going to sit on this for now, until I get a pressure test on the WUR in my car, to see if it is running lean or rich, then we will go from there.
Next thing this weekend we will take a look at the shift linkage, starting in the car to see if the bushings are bad. I will let everyone know what I find out when I have more.
Thank you for all the input and help. I do appreciate. _________________ Cheers;
