|
|
I have been building my little 924 over the years and it finally got back on the track last week... All didn't go exactly to plan, gear linkage broke 3 times, throttle stuck (scary at 220k's) and handling was average... Lots to work on, but here is the update..
Engine -
968 3.0L - big cams, throttle bodies, 300hp fly wheel,
Suspension -
968, coil overs all around, solid bushes all around,
Body -
933 body kit, all fiberglass (Bonnet, doors, bumpers, front clip), lexan windows,

Nice build! Looks almost identical to a Swedish build with the same look and 968 engine, though your engine have more ambitious tuning _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Nice build. what wheels are those on the rears? front ones look like early offset but the rear ones look like they have a wider lip. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

I thought the wheels are 944 turbo 16 inch, well the rears are, will check the front ones, I also have a set of early offset I brought by mistake..
I will take some more pics when I get time,... _________________ 1982 924 Race Car

had the car out racing over the weekend,
Here is the link for the video
[url] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvcbtFiS0HE [url]
The Wheels were the wrong offset, now the wheels fit under the guards and do not rub!
I am struggling with rear end grip, my corner speed is very low, and the engine was cutting out due to low oil pressure, that is now fixed!
The 944 turbo I chase at the start has 360 RWHP but is much heavier....
Cheers

Looks like fun. What engine management are you using? Is Variocam still working? _________________ Toofah King Bad

Nice, looks like fun.
I'm no expert by any means but it seems to me that I've seen some 924s take steeper lines into the curves. Perhaps some geometry tweaking should allow you to unleash the 924 potential...as I see that some of the bmws are on par with you on the turns...we cant have that _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Sadly, E36 suspension is far more sophisticated than our VW trailing arms... _________________ Toofah King Bad

Meaning, yes we can be out-cornered by a BMW? _________________ Toofah King Bad

In most cases thing like that are realtively non important. Suspension setup, diff setup, tyre setup etc is way way more important when it comes to track performance. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo
