|

I want to start a form to help take a part and clean a fuel distributor and recreate a thread that gives pictures and text about each step. But I wan't to take the proper precautions before hand because I don't wan to damage a fuel distributor... so!
I recently bought a 1980 Porsche 924 weissach commemorative edition. She did not run and hadn't been running for six months back in June. He did crank it for me and it did turn with audible compression. The fuel pump was just bad. Replaced that and through a couple of tests I knew it was working. I then replaced a fuel injection line, fuel lines, fuel filter, and now a new injector.
After all that she did not start. Little confused I ran to the internet. I did a test where I took my fuel pump fuse and linked the 31 and 80 terminal allowing the pump to turn on with the battery and no key. By doing this the injectors should not spray and your fuel pump should be making some noise whilst also using the fuel return line to its fullest potential, and by pushing the MAF(mass air flow sensor) upwards the injectors should spray in correlation. I didn't get that and instead my injectors sprayed at full.
This told me that the distributor had something wrong with it.
I pulled that today(7/15/2017), with full precaution and some pictures to track my steps back got her out. The piston at the bottom I expect to move to change the pressure has seized and I need to take it apart to replace some o rings as well as re lubricate the piston.
This is where I need help. I want to make sure when I pull everything apart I won't damage anything as well as be able to clean up some of the 37 year old gunk.
I understand the basic idea of the positioning of the components, I just want to make sure im using proper lubricant, cleaning techniques, as well as items to replace and how to spot them.
Any help will do.
PS I also have some components coming in(o rings and sealant) |
