pulled off steering wheel, then like a dumb ass I tried yanking out the turn signal housing and broke it, looks like I will need that part now too. But anyways, I just cannot get the ignition out I tried pulling it as hard as I could with tools, there is like a housing that goes around the steering column, is it welded on there or what? Someone on this board has taken the ignition switch out, please HELP! frustrating here.

Did you take the allen bolt out from under the dash? there's a hole there, you should be able to see the bolt holding the ignition switch assembly on. Make sure you pull off all of the electrical connectors, too. I think it's 5mm.

| I know you have an older 924 so the wand is different but I was just hacking up some pieces at the pick your part yard off a VW van, they use the same wand base and connections, but different plastic wands. The older 924 switches are different though so maybe the older vws you can find parts. 1980 vw vans have the 81-81 style 924 (three bolt) wand bases, not sure abou 70s vans having 4 bolt or not, next time I'm out there I'll try and find an old hippy van pre-80. |

928 dreams make sure you have the allen key out then make sure that the steering wheel lock is NOT ingaged otherwise to get it off you will have to strech the steel.
