1) does anyone know off hand if you are supposed to use factory torque figures for the head bolts when using a Cometic head gasket ?
2) I have a brand new cam ground to the Integral Stage 2 profile. Do I start at 0 deg. on a vernier cam gear or put some adv/ret into it ?
Thanks guys,

1. I too would like to hear some answer to this including ARP v's stock bolts. Have you asked Cometic? Is it thickness specific? Does ARP torque spec override all?
2. I played with advance/retard with my Piper cam. Whilst retarding helped with top end revs it made the car more laggy. I prefered the earlier boost and torque of an advanced cam. However it can be engine specific and dyno runs with changes may gives better understanding of results. But also consider the butt dyno too, how it drives everyday
Neither will give you more power but it can lose you power if you go too far either way. It just moves the sweet spot up and down the rev range. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

How do you think that would have worked if you had used a Franco cam gear? _________________ It was either this or a giant box of legos |

I don't know, what do you think? _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

I noticed a difference in the torque curve in my lil NA ITB project using the Franco cam and the Integral cam with base timing retarded 3 degrees and moving to +7 after around 3500rpm.
Never got it tuned well enough or had enough time to get it on a dyno to get actual data, maybe the stars will align this spring/summer and I can make that happen. _________________ Stefan

My Integral cam had a spec sheet with the info you're asking about. New company doesn't include it?
As to torque specs, THIS PAGE seems to indicate that appropriate values are dependent on the fastener, so I would use factory values. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Yeah, with it I actually HAD some torque. So yeah, I'd say it would help expand the area under the curve on a dyno plot. _________________ Stefan
