Wife's upset with gas dripping onto garage floor. Any idea what it could be? I figure a gasket or the top of the fuel tank is leaking. Thanks for any help you may give - Ted _________________ James T. Carrington (Tedder)

How much fuel is in the tank? If it is the seal at the top of the tank you can check it easily through the inspection hole under the hatch carpet. If it isn't up there, raise up the back end & pressurize the fuel system by manually operating the pump, then have a look under there for the leak. |

Might be the infamous stress crack on the top of the tank.

Some of us have been known to never fill the tank completely and to leave the cap loose to avoid having pressure build up in the tank. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

My experience here.
In short, I replaced all the hoses (some of which were bad), but not the fuel sender gasket.
I needed to replace the gasket as well. _________________ 78 924 NA

I did a little research on what the problem could have been. Later on I carefully filled my gas tank, never had a leak since! Its possible that I overfilled the tank and perhaps the overflow hose has a tear. What I have done is replaced the fuel sender in the tank and now have a more accurate idea of how much fuel in tank. I tend to click and click again when I fill up my other cars - bad habit I guess. Probably caused my little leak in the first place. _________________ James T. Carrington (Tedder)

Replace with late plastic tank. _________________ Toofah King Bad
