|
I recently purchased a 931 and after having taken care of some other things I am trying to get it running.
The car will start after cranking for about 5 seconds, run rough and then stall. it doesn't matter how much throttle you give it, it has little or no response.
I am assuming I have some vacuum leaks but I think it is more of a fuel pressure issue that I want to check out first.
The only way the previous owner could get the car to run and continue to run was to hold the metering plate down a tiny bit, therefore opening the injectors and giving it the fuel it needs. Adjusting the afr screws to tune it so it opens the injectors then back off a little twist does nothing, they just won't open. Fasteddie suggested checking the "Pop up valve" so I plan on doing that when I get home.
Also I have been reading there is a cover for the screw, is the screw that big of a vacuum leak and would it throw off the engine that much? _________________ 1980 931 ~ 67,000 miles |

Actually its the system pressure regulator plunger as I understand it, or the main fuel pressure regulator, it is labeled "Push-up valve" in the pic..
I find this pic very handy.. Thank you whoever made it.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

What you are describing sounds more like a fuel delivery issue to me, probably malfunctioning WUR, bad injectors, malfunctioning fuel distributor, or some combination thereof. The best (and IMO, only) way to troubleshoot is to start with a proper test of the CIS system. Tutorial here. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I don't think the correct amount of pressure was ever getting to the fuel dist.
I removed the fuel filter ( someone stripped the hell out of it) so I ended up having to break the fuel line to check it. But there is so much resistance I can hardly blow through it. Gonna replace that and the fuel line now >.> and hopefully it's that and nothing more. _________________ 1980 931 ~ 67,000 miles |

Make sure to install the replacement filter in the correct orientation, arrow pointing toward the windshield. Common mistake to put it on backward... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |
