Hi all u out there, try this Yamaha moto bicke R1 carbs on your 924. cheeper than webber by half. £550.00 CHEEP
i have full lightend engine:- IE RODS, CRANK, FLY, PISTONS,SKIMED HEAD,LONG DURATION CAM(PIPER) race manifold (header) race exhaust.944 turdo frount struts, coile over on back end, 944 5 pin wheels.
ON DINO we pushed out 150 BHP AT BACK WHEELS @ 6000 rev not red line, standard 125 BHP at fly, estimat 195 at fly.
lodes of power smooth all the way up to 150 mph(Donington & silverstone track days) on sh-- try it.
next step need to loos lots of waght. keep pushing it.

Sounds like you are imitating the 924 D cars....those have 180 BHP as i remember....how is your milage ?

150 mph at Donington - National or GP circuit?

I realize nothing is written in stone when it comes to automotive performance but this claim seems to go against all we have evidence of.

Like the fact the "D" cars used the better flowing 931 head and high compression to acheive "just" 180HP. Not to mention it was Porsche engineered.

I find it a little difficult to believe this kind of HP can be achieved with the 924 head without extensive amounts of mods. I actually think it would be difficult (but not impossible) to get this HP with boost on a 924 head.

I am not calling you "untruthful" only saying your numbers may be a bit inflated by your dyno operator or someone else.

I thought 150 mph was impossible with stock gearing (snailshell, or Audi 4-speed and 5-speed). Do you have a custom gear set?

well, we will see what I get for HP once the bloody TEC3r ECU gets back from repair- it was DOA...

man this sucks-- I get all the problems

Yeah, but its so much fun spending 3000% more!

ok, ok... not to whore this tread... bad to the main topic(s) at hand... I too would love to see exact specs on this engine as I am interested to hear what has been done.

I am an anxious little puppy to see what sorta numbers I'm pushing out too

Given that I have a proven 205bhp and that I can't hit that speed at any of the venues we use I am dying to see whats been done here . If it all works I can see a few speed championship folk jumping on the same bandwagon!

Need photos, rolling road plots etc. I am in the UK so perhaps we can meet at one of the speed rounds?

That is because the "d Production engines where over 200 hp and remember porsche still claims the 935's where max 750 bhp.( more like over 1000 bhp)
A good D production engine makes 175-180 WHP..
His 150 whp is reachable. The heron head while not as good as the 931 head is capable of doing that. for comparision sakes,

1. 220 whp out of 2L dodge
2. 235 whp 2L honda
3. 140 whp 1.5 L single cam Honda ( scca gt4)
4. 186 whp Honda B16 1.6L

So 150 whp with his mods it is reasonable to expect 138-148 whp, stock would have produced 98 whp .

thanks for the post, at last something positive, bike carbs breath hard & GIVE LOTS OF POWER,
i have noticed lots of the board think u r full of it unles u have been on it for one year or more,(no hard feelings to u all)

Joes 924 BUMP TELL ME MORE?

lodge Sports in the UK PREPED HALF of the engine(winers of the 924 championship) the carbs by Bogg Brothers. lots of big names to be slaging off.

my next step is to SC the motor with the help from 944 ESC (MAD AS A BOX OF FROGS)
but a man on a mission for power( thanks wes your the man)

i am not a tech head, i find people with a passion for speed & power and let them advise me, this board is full of such people and we need to look at each consept with open arms (ok it might be crap but at least look befor we shit on it)

will post in a few months as im going to be fiting a SC all being well

As I said, nothing is written in stone when it come to performance but it was a little hard to decern where you were coming from! It was your first post here and just a little suspect because it is claiming things I have never seen before. I am as guilty as anyone of getting bogged down with conventional thinking and I didn't mean anything derogatory.

Sequential, do all those motors you listed have the heron head style? It seems to me I have had the head off all of them and I don't remember any of them not having a combustion chamber. I could be wrong.

I don't actually think the combustion chamber design is the limiting factor in the 924 head. The intake port just sucks! It has a terrible reversing pocket just behind the valve seat that will limit any amount of porting without filling (welding) it. Then again I could be wrong again
