Didnt get much time today, I had to go look at a drywall remodel job i get to start on friday sometime, I think Im going to work nites on it since its inside... so thursday is cut and buff day all day. Im starting with 1000 grit
and a spray bottle & bucket of hot soapy water a variable speed buffer
with velcro wool pad ... this just with buffing compound. I started with the passenger door and went to the rear quarter panel.

This is really interesting to see your progress and I enjoy the pics, but do we need multiple threads over multiple sections?

PS how do you find the time to work, do your project, photograph and post so much?

Are you going to finish with a scratch/swirl remover and a foam pad? Wool pads leave quite a few marks by themselves, let alone when loaded with buffing compounds (rough).

I usually start at 1,000, then 1,500, then to a cutting/finishing compound on wool, then the same on terry cloth, then to the fine scratch remover on the fine foam pad.

WTF!!! You have put a bucket on fresh paint, are you mad?? Not only will it add swirls and scratches its likely do dent the fresh paint/clear.

I've never used anything from Meguiars except their waxes and detail sprays. I've always used 3M finishing products for fresh paint because the local paint stores carry the full line of that brand. Once the paint is about a month or so old, then I put a couple of coats of wax on it.
