| Just got mine in the mail. Everything I have seen said this is the model to use, but there are no bolts in the distributor housing for securing the hardware. Anyone else out there install one on these? Do I need to buy a different distributor? This is for my 1979 924. |

My understanding is that the Pertonix will only go in the 1976 points type distributor, otherwise I would have one. I had a Pertronix in my old Int. Scout and it was perfect for 15 years and 200+k miles before replacing. I would bet that some old VW/Saab/BMW distributor would work with a gear replacement and recurve of the mechanical advance. It would take a bit of research, but there are millions more VW folks out there than our little group and hundreds of VW hot rod shops. _________________ Mike

I did at little research last night and apparently no one has found a distributor to fit although an early Rabbit/Dasher should be looked at as they were overhead cam(gear drive) and might have points. I'd start checking ebay in the UK for a 1976 distributor. _________________ Mike

| For aftermarket ignition it is hard to beat a MSD 6A. I had one on my 77 and it worked great and it was easy to set up and you can mount it where the stock transistorized ignition goes. |
