Hey guys, I'm new around here, been lurking a lot and reading but this will be my first post I think. I have an 80 turbo that I've put on a diet for weight savings and I've removed the factory alarm system. I was wondering if there is anything I will need to jump to get the car to start after taking it all out or if its absence will act as it never being there (doubt it). I've been studying the wiring diagrams and they are rather unclear on this. Thanks.

Well did it start ? If not start ? If not follow same paths, spark fuel pump getting 12V etc . Yes the alarm inhibited something so look closely at the wires and where they lead to. Suspect its a 12v to engine ignition and or starter. Have no experience on that circuit just throwing it out there.

I Don't know yet, i basically got the car non running, it was all messed up, everything from fuel to spark, i've just finished replacing all vacuum lines and such, i've got new plugs and wires, just did the timing belt and the V belt while i was at it, oil looks nice and clean. lastly i'm going to pull the fuel tank and clean it out.

I don't know if anyones tried it but im going to be using the intank screen instead of an intank pump, mainly to save money, as it's a budget car and im not even sure that it runs yet. But i'll try to compensate with an external fuel pump with the proper flow rate.

I managed to crank the engine today which was good, however i did it with a jumper wire to the control on the starter solenoid, my entire interior is ripped out so i cant use the key and such yet, but i feel like as soon as i get the inside all together and hooked up, im going to turn the key and have nothing happen because of the alarm i pulled out.

I was just asking if anyone else had pulled their alarm and knew if there were some exact colors and locations of wires i'd deal with to save me some time from being out in Montana's cold

Yes you can dump the in tank pump. I got my 82 running that way before I parted it ... I would first pull the fuel line from Fuel Dist and jumper fuel pump and purge the after the filter to make sure it all flows point the line into a bucket. keep ignition sparks etc away!

Sounds good, is it safe to run any modern fuel system cleaner through the system aswell? I think i read somewhere porsche actually recommended a certain brand or something, but i wasnt sure if the standards of todays stuff would be too hard or cause an issue with the CIS system, thanks.

I would start just getting the cruddy gas out of the line set to the Fuel Dist Initially. Then Likely some bad gas in the fuel dist. Pull the injectors from the head ( o rings holding them in) and point into a catch bucket . Re connect the fuel line and jumper FP again. Then lift CIS intake plate and all injectors should spray purging any other bad gas and you can confirm spray pattern etc.

Light a match and you have a flame thrower or several so B carefull
