I found this page and was wondering if I needed a external oil pump for this.

Not unless the car is doing only track work.

With ambient track temp the last time I was out at 120, my oil got upwards of 250*F.

Regular driving conditions will (should) not drive it that high.

Why would you want it as cool as possible, that will only cause wear on the engine and high consumption. Its better to have correct temperature(and viscosity), hence the thermostat on the standard oil cooling system.

I have driven a stock 125Hp car on track for many years without problem (looong stints aswell). If you aint running a tuned car or track car there is little to no point in doing this. Buy some quality oil instead. Especially if you have a us engine with less than 125 HP.

Why not fit an oil temp gauge first so you know whats going on.

Also I have found with these motors that high oil temps go with high water temps, so if water is ok dont worry

If you are hell bent on an oil cooler check out B&M super coolers. They are relatively cheap. I had one on my turbo'd miata years ago. Keep in mind the price creeps up when you start adding in extra bits like AN fittings, adapter plate, oil filter relocation, thermostat, etc.
