So I thank all those that have been assisting me with parts to get my car track and road ready. It has been great and the beast is so close to being ready.

That being said. i received the wiper and signal switch from Bockscar yesterday. And i was excited. OOH yeah I told myself. Then I looked at it. The connections were totally different. Hand slaps forehead! D'oh. I take the part along with the new rear drums to the shop where the car is, and look to see if there is anyway I can make it work. But there isnt.

So lesson is, 924 n/a vs 924 turbo -- different switch mech'2!! So back to the hunt to get the bits that I need. I might just have to put a flip switch on the dash to work the wipers, but we will see.

Thanks everyone again. Got to learn the hard way. It just doesn't make sense to me why Porsche would change the switches for a turbo and non-turbo car! Oh well. Live and learn.

I plan on using a toggle switch for mine, thru a relay of course. My GTS little front lights are on a toggle switch, and my 'blinkers' as well. Just have to remember to shut off the blinker! And that phantom lever is still there, in my head~! If you had the 'paddle' handle metal style, I have a set of those I believe.

yeah, live and learn. What can you do.
Grenadiers, if you were able to locate the metal paddle type level what dollar value would you place on it?

I may have sources a set here in Ottawa, but i am always open to better deals.

When I checked the Automotion and other parts catalogues, even the Porsche parts disk, it showed a different part number for the early cars, the turbo and the later 924S! And of course wouldnt you know, the switch for our dear old normally aspirated are more expensive than the rest.

I'll try to take a look at the local yard to see if the 78/79 they had are still there and whether they have the signal stalks.

Probably won't be until the weekend.

here's the 'meat' of the argument, whether you have this connection requirement.

Those two little white plastic thingys are important, one of mine is broken.

I'd take 25 bucks plus freight. If you still have those little white plastic parts, you'll need one!

3 bolt late style vs 4 bolt early style, looked into this myself and unless you change the wiring plugs and the mount to the steering column or just about everything then its no simple plug in and go.

So I was able to get a new (to me) wiper switch last week. Went out to the shop where the car is and plugged it in. I twisted the key, flipped the switch and ......

WIPERS Yay!! then no wipers BOO!!!.

We went through everything again and I think I must have a short somewhere, because sometimes I will get power to the plug at the wiper motor and then nothing!!! This is getting frustrating.

Question, Does anyone have a link or a wiring diagram that shows what color of wires go from the switch below the steering column to the plug at the motor. The wire colors are not the same. I need to track this down, and quick.

Thanks folks.

WE HAVE WIPERS.

Sorry didn't meant to shout, but they now work. I had to use a work around for now. But I have wipers and the safety will be done so i can register the car for next week and start putting some miles on it before the Watkins Glen weekend.

Oh BTW, does anyone have a battery clamp? I need one to keep my battery from slopping around during cornering.

Mine was gone also. I just got a plastic coated one at the local FLAPS.
The stud was also broken so I put in a new 5/16" bolt.
