See the resolution in the thread in the link below for some info on how the issue in this thread was resolved.

In flywheel sensor you got two coils... one is "bigger" and one "small". booth works with some generators in DITC. If you put normal teeth on flywheel one coil magnetic field will be distracted but it's not enough for second one... so only "special" teeth will activate second one. That impulses are counted in DITC and "1" will cause reset counter and start again... _________________ 931 82' - 5000km after full engine rebuild

Thanks McGyver. I did not realize the two coils read different teeth. One the normal teeth and the other the reference. _________________ "Never get out of the boat. Absolutely goddamn right. Unless you are goin' all the way."

No booth read at the same time any teeth... but one is more sensitive and then it read all "normal" teeth... giving the DITC info about 1 of 100 teeths. Signal from bigger coil is enough to change frequency of resonation which can be detected by DITC, second coil generates too small signal to change second frequency. One teeth is special with soft iron insert (like part of transormator housing) and olny that will give impuse strong enough on second smaller coil to activate DITC to reset and count teeth again to determine crank speed. This special teeth is also readed by bigger one coil too.
Maybe someone can post photo of damaged sensor? Or cut it in 2 halfes for our knowledge.
It is possible to make new one but most important informations are in sensor housing... wire lenght, direction, how many turns, and is there any soft insert inside? I have only two sensors and booth are ok so until booth work I don't want to open one of them.
I looking for damaged sensor and DITC for my researchs if someone has sometning and can send it to me. _________________ 931 82' - 5000km after full engine rebuild

Can anyone confirm me that no solution has been found yet for this sensor?
Except for the Mitt*** distributor which doesn't (always) work properly.
Thanks.

How come it doesn’t work properly? _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

I did some semi-educated investigations and may have found something that could work but i never had the balls to try it on my 937 DITC and then i lost that car and had nothing to test the replacement sensor on.
I think i have stored the technical description of the sensor somewhere on a backup disk...i even had it posted here but the post seems to be gone.
Basically i may have found a sensor that is the right diameter but may require a spacer and seems to be outputting signals in the range that the original 924 sensor is.
If i'm not mistaken this sensor i'm talking about was used for the e36 vanos equipped BMW M engines in the early 90s.
I remember someone wanted to try this sensor on his 924 here on the board but the spacer needs to be designed so i think the guy abandoned the idea of the bmw sensor. _________________ https://www.the924.com |

I've seen several customers who had to send back their part because of misfires.
And the new one didn't work better. With original ignition no problem.
It seems to be current hearing the 924oc members. |

I know of one CGT owner who had a problem, I'm not 100% convinced it was the car or the dizzy yet. Plus one other on here/FB but again, the car may have other issues than just the dizzy?
I've run one for 6yrs without issue apart from breaking the mini USB last year due to being too firm with a cheap lead that didn't fit connector. I have been running the later Bluetooth version for 9 months without issue. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

As I told, with original distributor and ignition system, engine appeared to work properly.
I haven't experienced it yet and I never had one in my hands. I must have been less confident with my words. The 2 or 3 times I heard about this part was bad reports, that's why I though it.
However this was not my intention to debate about this part.

I asked about it because I'm on a very good way to solve this problem for far less expensive than the current alternatives.
I wouldn't want to waste time and money if it wasn't necessary to work on it. |

I would say do it. The connector is still available so if someone comes up with a sensor that works then go for it. Especially since you are saying you have an inexpensive solution.
The only thing I see is that the connector on average, is around $25 USD. _________________ 1980 931 since 1989
