|
|
Hey Everyone,
It seems that they made the Martinis in several different paint codes.
I had a Martini build date 12/76 that was L90
What paint code and build date do you guys have?
Thanks,
Jackson |

Jackson,
I've started the same thread on Pelican to get this in front of more eyes.
My Martini 924 is VIN 9247210987.
Build date is Jan 1977.
Paint code decal still present and reads L93Z Polizei Weiss.

Guys, we have the same goal in mind here, which is to find out what color the Martini cars were delivered in.
Please amend your posts to remove possibilities or guesses, or I heard this...... and only state what you can absolutely verify. Let's not repeat other's bogus info. That's why I posted my VIN. So that people would know I speak from first hand experience with car and paint code decal in hand. I don't mean to sound harsh but we have to gather only verifiable data.

Right, as far as verifiable information goes, I do not have any paint info on the car. I have taken the trouble to look at the info received back from Marc Noack (should have done so earlier!)and he states my car " color -4910= grandprixwhite with Martini decals".
Of the 3000 supposedly made of this model, only 100 RHD went to UK and probably only about 10 survive. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

Greg,
Great detail and FIRST HAND verifiable data! Nice work, thanks!
SCM and Dick, Your info is second hand from Noack. An historian trying to piece together the past. There's no such thing as a 4-digit paint code as in "4910."
SCM,
Statements like this, "Could be Alpine White L90E or Grand Prix White L908" can't help us. ONLY firsthand VERIFIABLE data is useful here.
There's still no empirical evidence to support anything but that the Martini cars were Police White.
Let's keep trying. _________________ Current project 1981 931

So I'm fairly certain that 9247210193 was L90.
We just learned that 9247210330 was L93Z.
If there was a switchover then it was in 12/76. |

Sorry, can't accept the info from Marc Noack is debatable. He is a Porsche employee based in HQ with access to their archives.
I would much prefer to have a sticker on the car, but regrettably this doesn't exist. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

Here's another point of contact for verification Werk924.com http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.werk924.com%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_content%26task%3Dview%26id%3D6%26Itemid%3D13
Stan, the code 4910 is the Porsche option code not the paint colour code for example my turbo is colour option P1G1 = Alpine White L90E/Guards Red LM3A. May be worth a return email to Marc to gain the colour code to option code 4910?
Werk924 state the option code is 4910 - RAL 9001? but further investigation as to the correct paint code/name for that option needs to be found. _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

I appreciate that Steve, but that is quoted verbatin from Marc, I couldn't really see the relevance of not quoting an actual paint code, but hoped it might mean something to someone! _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

I've been busy scouring Martini 924 for sale ads and going thru 924 registries and such.
Jeff from Virginia radio'd in to say his decal looks like L93Z also. _________________ Current project 1981 931

Just an update, I now have a positive identification of Police White on a UK spec car. _________________ 1984 n/a Ruby Red Metallic

Thanks a million!
I have the email from the factory and I believe I've solved the mystery regarding the confusion of GP white and Police white being the same color.
I'm waiting for another email back to be sure of it. _________________ Current project 1981 931
