|
|
So, first thoughts of a letter to Cams that can be sent from a few of us here that already have/or are considering prepairing 924's for Improved Production.
Improved Production Racing Association of Australia
Mr Greg Sharp
13 Geraldton Terrace,
Valley View SA 5093
Dear Mr Sharp
I am writing regarding the inclusion of the Porsche 924 in Improved Production. I beleive that all three variants of the 924 should be included as per there appropiate class. For example
Porsche 924 2.0L Naturally Aspirated - Under 2L
Porsche 924S 2.5L Naturally Aspirated - Over 2L
Porsche 924 Turbo 2.0L - Over 2L with appropiate forced induction formula applied.
Although I have found no official mention, I am lead to beleive that this topic has been braced before and the response recived is along the lines of the 924 is a sports car not a touring car. This ofcourse flies directly in the face of the Mazda RX7 as an group 3J car when one considers that the design of the RX7 was based on the 924. Further more they are similiar cars and respective year models were competition in show rooms at the time.
Further more there are many makes and models that cross over between historic group S and group N, The Alfa Alfetta and the 911 come to mind.
I would be greatful is you would foward this application onto CAMS with the full support of the IPRA.
I note that there are 2 924 currently under construction for racing (one in Sydney, one in Hobart) as well as my car which is currently a group S car but may not always be.
Yours SIncereley

Good stuff, good luck with it! My experience with sanctioning bodies has been that when you can show them there are a number of cars already ready to join them (and spend plenty of money racing!), and many more interested parties waiting in the wings, they listen to the money...
So I'd definitely be sure to emphasize that properly! _________________ Vaughan Scott

If IPRA approve the 924 type then is it automatic that CAMS will approve the car?
There is an unkind acronym for CAMS here in Australia that ends with "Against Motor Sport..". _________________ To finish first, you must first finish! |

No IPRA has no power, but if you read the rules, CAMS will only accept a submission from IPRA, so we have to convince them. Would it be best to send 3 seperate letters or one letter singed by all who are interested? _________________ Over the top of skyline, total brake failure.... hit the wall at over 200 kp/h at the dipper, so anyone who has to brake for the esses is a pussy.
