Here you go. Before you go any further consider this. I ALWAYS pick up three inline fusable links with about six 2A glass fuses. You are looking to match three lines which is usually yellow (constant battery power), red (ignition) and black (ground). Make sure that your battery is disconnected first! Go ahead and take that black wire and either screw it or bolt it to your unpainted frame from the pigtail. Wrap off the orange wire as a dimmer switch may be redundant. If not, you can always trace it later.

Take two fusible links and solder these to the yellow and red lines. Make sure that the fusible link ends that you are soldering are identical making it easy to trade out with alternate lines coming from the chassis in case you get it wrong. Count on burning one or two fuses. This will always save your stereo from the junk pile.

Next you will need to take the wires coming from the chassis and solder the other fusible link ends to these. From what I have seen on my 924, there should be a brown wire (battery constant) and a black wire (ignition). These will work for the stereo and keep memory such as clock or where your CD was the last time your car was on. The brown should be in line with the cigaretter lighter. So far, I have done an awesome job getting two serious stereos (one a 10-disk-changer as I had to solder four feet of cat 5 wire to lengthen the cable for trunk storage) installed in my '77 Mercedes 240D and one in my families '76 240D. This above should get you a stereo working correctly and keep it from getting zapped in the process.
