hey everyone
I was looking to add more security and sensible parts to my BAE turbo set-up and wanted to know if the Bosch cut-off valve unit - similar to that of the 951 - would be an ok unit to add?
Currently the only protection I have is the old vent-valve that came with the system. It has worked ok up until now, but I have a wastegate that I want to add as well and I want to build in some security against back pressure from the throttle being closed too quickly.
thanks very much

Really, any BOV will work fine if you have it set up properly. Are you staying with the CIS? If so you will most likely need to set the BOV to recirculate the air.
What does the vent-valve do/how does it work? _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

The 951 is a recirc unit and should be perfectly suitable to your needs. The plastic housing does have a tendency to fail under high boost from what I've read, so there are some after market metal-bodied copies available (Lindsey Racing has one, but there are others). But I would think a new unit with the low boost you're probably running on the BAE setup would be just fine. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

thanks
I will look into some of the metal bodied versions - I have seen numerous models on e-bay - I am not sure about those- I thought if I could find something close to what the factory had used that might not be a bad idea
I am trying to stay with cis for now - but even so I wanted to try to make it a recirculating set up if possible
the vent valve is a pressure release valve similar to a radiator cap that releases pressure at a certain level - in my case right around 5-6 psi. it is placed after the turbo and before the throttle. It is a safety valve so to speak - I guess made to leak pressurized air on the way to the tb.
It has helped as a blow off valve to atmosphere as I have heard the swoosh sound when shifting. This was used (I think) on the earlier BAE kits before they added the wastegate to the turbo.
at least that is what I think it is.?
thanks very much for the info
