Maybe the PO meant that the motor made nearly the same power as the base 944 motor (which it could if the adjustable cam gear and lightly polished intake parts are any indication)

The car looks like it comes with a bunch of spares in the back and the engine bay looks clean and tidy. The body needs paint, but it looks relatively straight.

I think if the seller dropped the price by $750 or provided proof of the car's power output and ability to pass emissions (Cali emissions are pretty stringent) then it could be worth the money.

nice and shiny metal parts... my arms are still sore from polishing my valve cover yesterday, and its still not as bright as that one... thunbs up for the shiny stuff, thumbs down for the price, which is way over the top for a non runner...
