im new to the forum and would appreciate insight as to which car is a wiser choice. the 77 has 23k miles and the 4 speed, the 79 has 46k and the getrag 5 speed. both cars have similar condition as far as mechanicals and cosmetics. price is not an issue as they are both within a couple of hundred dollars of the other. any suggestions as which would be a better drive or less of a headache? thanks for your time and advice,,regards,,mike  |

Get the newer car. Has a better motor, and although the Getrag / snailshell tranny is much maligned, the 4-speed in the 77 may not be in any better shape, and you'll hate highway cruising at 5,000 RPM.
