So I'm in the middle of throwing an MSII in my 924, as half the injection system is leaking, gummed up, and so on/so forth (not to mention the ongoing k26 install, and the CIS is completely out as it is...) The local speed shop says "oh, this [insert most-expensive injector in the shop] injector will work great in your car!" when it sprays a double cone (4v/cyl head). I looked around in the archives for 2 hours, but didn't find what I needed. What kind of injectors are commonly used in EFI swaps on 924's by the guys on this board, and what kinds of flow rates are usually used with the k26 running at about 1 bar?
Thanks! _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

I know more than a few people run Bosch/FORD "Green Top" 42 lb injectors.
That should get you on target to 15 psi (at least 12 psi). Just keep an eye on your duty cycles. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Bosch green tops would work. I would suggest getting a high impedance injector to make tuning easier, and beyond that. How much horsepower are you planning on making?

I'm going to be upgrading the engine in spurts. to begin, I'm looking at 160-180hp. After I get my one of my heads reworked, get the new cam and lifters, and then replace the distributor with an EDIS system which may be a year or so at the rate I'm going, I should be closer to 200hp at the wheels. then, after rebuilding the rest of the engine and replacing the pistons, maybe stroking it out, who knows....
Now with the green tops, did they make a type with a pencil tip design like the stock injectors have? _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs...

heck naw! I grafted a k26 onto a now-modified BAE log manifold! that'll get me the power I'm looking at... _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

I had craem tops 22lb injectors on my N/A but that was mostly unmolested internally.
I have an EDIS unit and sender for sale if you want one... £30 + post.
Comes with the main unit plug and 2" wires (PO cut them a bit short)
Coil pack has gone AWOL (and was cracked anyway)
Can get a pic if you want.

Thanks Rich, but I have an EDIS already. Although I just need to weld a mount to the trigger wheel, and then some bracketry for the VR unit, but I don't have the willpower to program the msII for spark right now... _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

How are you mounting the trigger wheel? Stock Ford unit? Or special-made combo platter? I have two sets of the Ford electronic stuff, but their stock wheel with a serpentine pulley. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

I grabbed a full EDIS system off ebay, and the wheel came gratis. It's pretty much JUST the trigger wheel without any way to mount it to anything, so I'll send it out to have tabs welded on by a guy who does precision welding. _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

Would also suggest going for high impedance injectors. Modern ones are available with more flow than anyone on this board could possibly want. Also for the sake of easy upgrades, stick with the common Bosch EV1 size, 14mm top & bottom.
Pencil injectors aren`t skinny little things like the CIS ones, it refers to a narrow spray pattern, usually only a few degrees. You do not want a split or dual spray on a single valve. For the stock head location around 20* diffusion will cover the valve head without depositing fuel on the walls. Modern ball or disc valves are much faster responding than heavier old tech pintle valves and even grossly oversized injectors can give a good idle. I am running multiple hole disc type which give excellent atomisation at high flow rates.
There was a discussion with useful info for you a year or so ago in a thread that IIRC was started by 924RACR about some expensive Bosch units. Try search.
Also check out what is available at 5 O (five oh) motorsports, Racetronics, Ballenger Motorsports, etc. |

200hp 4 injectors means you will need approximately 29.4 lb/hr injectors.
InjectorSize = (HorsePower * BSFC) / (#Injectors * DutyCycle)

Check. I think I can remove the pulley part of it and see what's left. It looks like a harmonic dampener setup. Not that I'm changing over, but, have the parts. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

| FYI there is no need for any ford crap to run a DIS on MS2. The extra code is capable of decoding 36-1, or virtually any number of teeth directly. Only one extra ignition driver transistor is needed to run a wasted spark 4 cyl. with a large range of potential coils or coil packs. Simple universal trigger wheels are available which will be far easier to mount than modifying and adapting some particular ford part to suit. |
