Just a quick note before we're off to the racetrack - Race 1 at Waterford Hills is today!
Merritt and Chris will be retaking the track in the #77 and #55 cars... Chris will now be defending his Championship, and Merritt's looking forward to some great progress, now that she's got her rookie triangle off!
Forecast is for occasional light showers in the AM, which shouldn't hurt us; Merritt does particularly well in the wet, and Chris is finally sporting a good set of rain tires, should the need arise (though it probably won't be that wet even). Then it should clear out for a dry race in the afternoon. Tomorrow promises lots of sun and heat, with a high around 80 - we'll be working the CoolShirts hard by then!!
Will post back with results... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Excellent weekend, though the weather was pretty unpleasant.
Sat morning was rather wet; qualifying in the rain. Merritt was out on rains; Chris had just bought rains, but was unable to get them mounted in time, so had to qualify on drys.
Merritt ROCKED the field, qualifying on the ITB pole - her first, and possibly the first ITB pole for a woman! - and making it to 6th overall. Chris was well back in the pack, thanks to the tires.
But of course, all good things must come to an end. The track dried out for the afternoon races. This meant good things for Chris, though by then he had his rain tires mounted, but bad things for Merritt. Chris was able to make his way up through the field quickly, arriving at 2nd place, losing only because he didn't realize that the car in front of him, a new arrival at the track, was not in his class! Merritt, who is still working on her dry pace, was able to drive a fine race and defended well, but inevitably ended up sliding back to the back of the field.
Sunday was hot and sweaty, thanks to all the humidity from Saturday. Chris was readily able to move up to first place quickly, and cruised to an easy victory; Merritt had a great run in traffic, though she was held up by slower cars - now's the time to start working on that passing technique!
Sunday afternoon's Feature race was much the same, with Chris again pulling out an easy lead and dominating, and with Merritt having a great battle with 4 other cars in the back.
This of course means that Chris is off to a dominating lead in the 2010 ITB Championship, in good position to stand to repeat his successes last year!
We'll be back out in only 3 more weeks; Race 2 is June 5-6th!! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Cheers!
Other project is going interminably slowly. Got some more paint on the fram over the weekend, popped the floor back on, and spent a day at 4M machining and welding parts, but there's still a great deal left to do.
Of course, with this coming weekend also being a race weekend, it's stopped all work on the DSR to make sure everything's ready (lots of logistics to deal with as well) for the weekend. _________________ Vaughan Scott
