For those that are interested in my conversion project...I thought that I would post an update of my progress.
Recently found a few more snags in my engineering. The hood would not close due to the hieght of the distributor and cap. I resaerched shorter styles and found they all need crank triggers and MSD boxes plus the distributor....expensive and not meant for the street. I ended up having the shaft that protruded above the intake maniflod cut down by 1"3/4 and now the hood closes and clears with 1/2 inch to spare.
Also bought the valve covers for the engine and have found the edges of the covers are more squared than the ones I was using in my mock-up dummy block and I have had to move the master cylinder and brake booster outboard further by 3/4 of an inch to give the prpoer clearence and now the brake line is very close to coming in contact with strut tower.
I painted the struts, calipers and gas tank over the past few days.
I am waiting for my tires for the 17" rims
wheel adapters will be done this week,
interior is started and looks great.
I am repainting the rims tomorrow... one has chips on it and I don't have the paint code for them so I need to paint all four to ensure they match.
Also finished the hood opening where the air breather protrudes and I find it doesn't look that bad when sitting on the car....it won't be a sleeper that is for certain.
Hope to pull the dummy block this week and paint the under carridge this week. I am using tinted 3M rockguard and will top coat with urathane paint. The engine compartment will be getting paint soon as well as the door jams and ground effects and bumpers.
Hope to get some pics once there is some paint in the egine bay and I have the power plant installed.
