The ol Sturgeon back again....

So... I've done an entire brake rebuild on the project 1978 924.... have done the neccessary basics, such as water pump, timing belt etc. Got a replacement cam and everything hums nicely now.. Even got the heater to work sort of... (feels like a mouse blowing on a light bulb for heat)
Got some new tires and the ol girl runs down the highway pretty good... and straight

The next thing I wonder about... Has anyone ever made cut outs in the lower panel to access the torsion bars without having to drop the entire rear suspension..? Is this feasible.., or just pull the whole thing..?

I've got a slight lean to the left that I think must corrected with changing the bar set up... I have done some tweaking of the spring plate adjustment and the lean is still evident..

Thanks for any input,

Unless you know that the torsion bars were removed at some point, I'd guess that if your car is lower on one side than the other, it is most likely because of the rear height adjustment.

There is an eccentric bolt on each side for rear ride height adjustment. If the rear ride height was changed it would be very easy for both sides not to have been adjusted equally.

I've never taken out my torsion bars, but I'd drop the rear suspension be4 cutting holes in the body... although I guess it would be doable.

My understanding is that the holes will make reindexing or swapping out the torsion bars far easier in the future with the holes drilled in. My car is having track suspension fitted and I have been advised to do this to aid increasing/decreasing ride heights easier trackside. Dropping the whole unit out of the car trackside is not feasible. Luckily on the 931 I have plastic sill covers which will cover the hole easily.

Yes, the thought of cutting holes is a bit much, but it looks like they should be there anyway...
I was just wondering if anyone had done this and had any advice or instructions regarding the cutting of such access holes..

I have messed a bit with the spring plate eccentric on the lower (drivers side) it does not appear to have moved that side up..

Then adjust the other side down.

There's an article floating around here that advocates what you're planning on, but I don't have time to search for it now.
