Which throttle bodies will bolt on the 931's?

If you're referring to the 1981 S2 931 listed in your sig, the only one that will work off-the-shelf is the S2 throttle body. FWIW, it is the identical casting to the 924S/944 2.5L throttle body, but the throttle cam, linkage, and throttle position switch are not the same.

For the S1 931, the intake manifold shares the same rectangular bolt pattern for the Audi-style ovoid throttle body as those found on the NA cars. The S1 throttle body is essentially identical to the 1981-1982 NA TBs; it shares the same bolt pattern as the earlier TBs, but those TBs have smaller ports. As a consequence of the shared bolt pattern, you could conceivable perform the Audi big bore TB upgrade on an S1 car, although the S2 upgrade path is more desirable because it gets rid of the funky, leak-prone, flexible ovoid charge-tube-to-TB connector.

What are you trying to accomplish?

I'm looking into upgrading my 931 since I'm rebuilding most of the engine. I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck and trying to deside where and what to spend my money on. I would like to have a high performance street car but not really a track car like the one you've been working on. You've done a lot of nice work.

I've read that you can get a better response from a bigger bore throttle body but wasn't sure if it would be better than the stock one.

I've been doing a lot of reading on some of the upgrades that you guys have been posting.

Thanks for you help too. Any luck on the cam followers?

Outside of spending bigger money on increased CR, Euro style wastegate spring, front or top-mounted intercooler, manual boost controller; cheap little things like the throttle body are not much help. Setting up baseline reliability with a 29-30 year old stock 931 that starts, runs, shifts, stops, shuts down, is yer first priority! Enjoy that plateau for a bit, then call back! We need pics of the build-up of course!

Agree with Grenadiers, biggest bang for buck on an S2 931 has got to be a boost controller; followed closely by an intercooler; followed closely by an AFR for proper fuel monitoring. After that, address the biggest constraint on the 2.0L motor, which is the head. The big valve package can be done for right around $1K, plus or minus $200 depending on options and your machinist's labor rate.

I'm trying to get things together to start up a post but here's what I've got in a short version.

I bought a 1981 924 Turbo on the 17th of June. It had a broken timing belt and somebody started to work on it but never finished. The person that I bought it from has no idea on how to work on a car so I was able to get it from him very cheap, under $500. The car is is ok condition but needs a lot of TLC. So the first thing I did was to send the head off to get worked on. There's a bent valve and 3 cam followers were damaged (still looking for a good set). I have a lot of the brackets and intake are off to be powdercoated with additional work. I'm getting ready to pull the motor out here very soon. I've been talking with Rasta Monsta and I think I'm sending the turbo down to Majestic to be rebuilt. I had a 2 inch crack in my exhaust manifold and now it's repaired. I'm going to send it out and get ceramic coated with parts of the turbo and exhaust after I get the motor pulled. I'm planning on a Lindsey Racing radiator and intercooler, I purschased a 1.0 bar wastegate spring from Rasta Monsta (thank you!) and looking into a boost controller (any suggestions?). The interior is getting redone and exterior will get repainted over the winter. I have more ideas but I'll start up a new thread for that.

So that's what I've got going on. I'll be attaching a couple snap shots of the exhaust manifold soon.

With what you have planned, there's not much point in doing a larger throttle body if you're not putting bigger valves in the head.

Have you thought about how your going to provide enough fuel running at 1 bar of boost? Better make sure your CIS components are up to snuff, and might be worth considering the Leask adjustable WUR or the UT-CIS-PT.
