Okay guys, here are the first few pics ( go to: http://home.comcast.net/~fifty50plus/site/?/photos/ )of the SCCA IT-B 924 race car that I'm building. Vaughan set the bar with his so I thought I'd have to build one here on the east coast. So far, it's stripped and gutted and I just got it back from having a cage put in. Next steps are to sell many other items to get cash to invest in the 924.
Regards,
Chuck

Don't be jealous. I'm a lot older than you and can't play the guitar nearly as well as you.

Excellent! Cage looks pretty decent - though I have a personal major aversion to petty bars after bouncing my head off of one...

Lucky you, to have a lift and such a nice garage to build it in!

Surprised you didn't go for NASCAR bars and gutted door on the pass side too - you know that's legal now, right? Saves weight! Speaking of which - any read on how that's going yet? Did you do any stripping underneath, all the undercoating?

Hey, you got one of the rare "S" stickers!! Cool! Not easy to come by... car will be fast!

Vaughan- Right side head net will hopefully keep me off the Petty bar but more importantly, I'm putting in a helmet surround seat. Petty bar and it's rear counterpart add some torsional regidity that I want in this car. I was amazed at how much my 911 twists without it.
The lift will make it easy to burn off the undercoating on the bottom. I had to roll around under the 911 in my old gargage to burn it off and I swore that I would never do that again. Now I can do it without bone bruises on my hips and shoulders.
Undocumented benefit of a lift - you can raise the car up to clean and wax fenders, doors and wheels! My old knees don't squat so well after 25 years of jogging.

Cool, good to hear - those center nets are great, I still use mine. Watch out for Volvos!

Just peeled the tape off of my car last night, pretty much finished throwing the paint at 'er - she's back in racing shape, more or less. Still have to finish off install of the fenders, button up some details and cleaning, but has new camlocks and my wife's OMP seat, so she's more or less ready for tech...

Then get 'er back, wet-sand, rub out, polish/wax, and be-sticker...

Good to hear. They always look soooo good before you load 'em on the trailer. Then you turn it over to your wife for its next baptism in a week. Take lots of before pictures and don't forget the tranquilizers.
I'm off to Summit Point for MARRS 1 in a couple hours with the Benz. I just iced down my mood altering devices for an enjoyable weekend.

I'm jealous, and I play a mean piano to boot. That garage is something else. And those pix don't even show half of what's in there

Good stuff, Chuck, the cage looks great. And I agree with Vaughan, you gotta keep that S sticker.
