Hey guys as my first informational contribution to this board I would like to let every one know that the previous owner of my 931 is a pack rat that keeps everything. I have the entire owners manual for the 1980 924.

Inside is everything Porsche thought you'd need to know as an owner. I will be scaning it into my computer and setting it up as a PDF file, if any one would like the file, just let me know and when i have it done i'll email it to you.

Green tartan interior, you don't see that on a Civic.

Think again...

U.S. Copyright Office wrote:
The term of copyright for a particular work depends on several factors, including whether it has been published, and, if so, the date of first publication. As a general rule, for works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. For an anonymous work, a pseudonymous work, or a work made for hire, the copyright endures for a term of 95 years from the year of its first publication or a term of 120 years from the year of its creation, whichever expires first. For works first published prior to 1978, the term will vary depending on several factors. To determine the length of copyright protection for a particular work, consult chapter 3 of the Copyright Act (title 17 of the United States Code). More information on the term of copyright can be found in Circular 15a, Duration of Copyright, and Circular 1, Copyright Basics.

If you mean the little glove box owners manual, they are available fairly cheaply on EBay.

If you mean the full factory service manual that comes in 5 binders, then that has long ago been scanned into a pdf and made available on the internet, so I wouldn't waste your time. Anyone with google and 5 minutes can find it.

As others have said, we've been down this road before, the little admin dude will likely show up soon and lock this thread, offering up copyrighted material is not condoned on 924Board.

Now that we are past that awkward bit of discussion. When are you coming up to Edmonton to hand out with the local 924 guys?

You do realize this board is not American? It is hosted in Australia. Also, the original poster is from Canada? Also, the documents in question are German in origin? The US copyright laws have very little to do with it.

thanks for the concern guys, but from what I know of eforceable copywrite laws a piece of material this old should be in the public domain by now, also because it's not for profit and porsche doesn't sell the piece any more they'd be hard pressed to find a case against me. That said if the mods decide they need to lock this topic I won't disagree they need to do what keeps them safe.

Chrenan got any car shows comming up in may? I'd take a trip up for something like that. don't really have much to do in E-town.

Not much in May. June 13/14 there is a big show at the Reynolds Alberta Museum, about 45 minutes south of Edmonton:

A few of us got together there last year and checked out the cars, makes for a nice afternoon.

There is a great End of Summer Euro Drive up here every September that is definitely worthwhile. All you need is a Euro car and the ability to follow a map that is handed out. Usually a lot of neat vehicles in attendance:

2006:

Not sure what happened to the 2007 thread, I can't seem to find it.

A TANK! if that guy attends every year i'll have to bring my dad, he loves all that old war equipment. I'll let you guys know when the Highriver show and shine is, it's just a half hour south of Calgary and filled with muscle ( I can't remember seeing even one 924 or 944 there for the past few years) It's good fun, lots and lots of people.

Yeah, the tank guy usually makes an appearance. It is a British vehicle, so it qualifies. He usually just comes to the show part, and not the drive as he would have trouble keeping up. The guy is a character, actually walks around with his pet parrot on his shoulder, great stuff.

I've heard the Highriver show is good from some other folks too.

if you own a piece of material, duplicate it..scan it or whatever...and give it away personaly there should be no penalty...if you sell it yes...or if you post it publicly...maby...if the document is an internal piece of information and you or whoever purchased it signed that he or she will not disclose the content in a public matter.
So scaning it and sending it to a friend by PDF sould be ok.
