I have one bent and one broken on one side.
Rather than level they should go like this:
_ _
It looks like this (this would be looking directly behind the floorpan if you cut the car in half and looked at the mounts)
Of course the far left bracket on the floor pan isn't bent THAT BAD, but it's slanted slightly, so the seat sits just a tad funny... and if you looked from a top perspective it's like this.
The x represents the one that is broken on the floorpan The / is the one that is bent down a bit. _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)

Hahahahaha!
Yeah it's the floorpan brackets BTW. I talked to stefan, fiat22turbo, he thinks the car got hit. I see no frame damage, the car drives straight, feels fine.... and it isn't bent badly, i'd say off on level just a hair, just enough that the seat actually touches the arm rest on the door just BARELY on the seatrest button. _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)

I was thinking, yep that's the reason for the smoke, that perhaps someone bent the floorpan with a floor jack?
I only ask because my floor pan has a couple of tweaks from DPO's... _________________ Stefan

Ok we got it fixed.
He is still sticking to his "I think one of the owners was a bit fat guy" theory.
The very back of the seat had pushed the very back door side bracket down (along with the floorpan), we got that fixed and pushed back up and even and leveled. The front doorside bracket was so busted and messed up he was pulling bits of it back and off with his bare hands.
We used a new steel plate that was sealed against rust, cut the old one out, used the mount from it and drilled into the plate and mounted it and welded it into that and sat it in the spot where the old one was. Rust sealed and painted it back after welding it in. Nice strong welds. Turned out great and he didn't catch my car on fire, so that's a plus.
The seat is now level, sits fine and actually feels like it should, I was so happy. He only charged me $40 for his time, so I can't complain. I'm happy now
All that's left to do on the 944 is:
- Fix one small spot where the paint peeled off.
- New leather shift boot
- Reupholster seats
And i'll be in "Ok this car is in great shape" status. I don't think I showed the engine bay after I detailed it.
As compared to the 924
If i get the control arm fixed on my friend's car tomorrow i'll be doing a valve adjustment on my kawi ninja and then working on the 924 if there is time left over. _________________ - 1977 Porsche 924 2.0 N/A (Trackday Project)
