Hi, I know the whole parts interchange topic has been discussed previously on the board, but a search did not bring anything useful for me.
I can get my hands on a CIS system from a Golf GTi (Rabbit), and I know some parts are interchangeable (eg the fuel accumulator). Does anyone in here have any experience with engine parts, WUR, AAV, injectors, etc etc?
Many parts look visually identical but I guess there can be differences in fuel pressure and such.
924 parts are hard to find where I live, so any experiences from you guys would be a great help.
Thanks,

I seem to remember reading that the first three digits of a VAG part will be different than the standard 477 prefix for the 924, but that if the rest of the numbers are the same, there is a good chance the part will interchange. I don't know this conclusively, but it's and idea you might use for chasing parts down.
{EDIT}
I think the VW part number prefix is 321, but you should verify... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

My car had the CIS of a Golf CTI, i presume. ran well, extremely rich, but I threw it of immediately and converted to EFI. I think it used everything from the Porsche CIS, except for the fuel distributor. The airbox needs to be cut to accommodate all of the lines to the dist, and you won't be able to fit an air filter. However, there is one nice thing: on the golf dist you can adjust each injector individually. As long as it has enough range to tune the A/F ratio at idle, it should work fine, as the airflow sensor stays the same part and yous fuel map should then also stay the same, given that the dists don't differ too much. But I would go to EFI, the parts for the CIS are too expensive and troublesome to maintain.
If you really want, I can go and see if I can find the part number of it. |
