Looks like an air to water intercooler, however, I think it is a bit tall to fit over the valve cover of a 931, would have to cut a hole in the hood to make it fit also. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Definitely not a modified CGT. The heat exchanger is too tall. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Yea Ideola, but it would have been a nice conversion piece if it wasn't too tall. _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - going away...

As flosho pointed out, it could probably still work provided you were willing to cut up a hood and install a cowling or something. The other troublesome aspect would be the charge air outlet, both in terms of getting it to match up to the location of the throttle body (height wise) as well as sourcing a connecting tube that would interface with the ovoid shape on the IC, and the slightly different ovoid shape of the SI TB, or the round shape of the SII TB.
Still, a very interesting piece indeed! _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Here is the seller's response to my inquiry regarding dimensions:

Based on that, it's appears to be almost exactly 2x the height of the stock CGT unit. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

'cant see anything wrong with it'...
so it could be leak as hell.
edit: I put 4 bar of air pressure on my oil cooler and it showed no faults. Any intercooler or heat exchanger should hold this pressure too (oil cooler should take more in my case). _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)
