Im building a new racing engine, but I cant find new rod bolts anywhere. I need them for the 115HP '80 924 VS engine. Any one know where I can get them?

Thanks.

Sorry, just noticed your post... it doesn't appear that ARP make anything for these engines, other than head studs. OTOH, stock do appear to do quite well. What class are you building for? For ITB, I'd definitely say that, in my experience, stock is suitable - mine are old in fact, original. OTOH for Prod, you might need something better.

It's possible that we could match them up with an application in the ARP catalog?

Well I'm looking to start ITB, but move to production pretty quickly. Looks like I'm getting a set of new rods made. With as many problems as I've been having getting this engine done, I want it to be as bullet proof as possible.

The reason the engine is being built is a because I threw a rod on the last one, and it appears to be the fault of one of the bolts. We found it on the track, and it had a worn crack on one side, and the shear on the other.

Thanks for the advice though!

I would definitely recommend ITB over Prod, but maybe I'm biased...

Definitely depends on where you race, what you have for competition.

HOWEVER - aftermarket rods are not legal for ITB. They must be stock.

I'm surprising you're having trouble getting the engine done; who's building it for you?

Where are you located in the US?

#1 secret to getting 924 engines to live long is no secret; it's keeping the oil cool and in the engine. You need a generously-sized cooler - I use a 8.5"x11" - and an Accusump.

I usually find them on the end of the rods that came out of the engine...

Arrow Precision in the UK made my new rods. Forged, with ARP bolts. If you are looking for hi spec performance rods, you won't get much better. Or try Paulter/Crower ect.

A bit of poking around and it looks like Prioret has sold his engine bay.

No really, he seems to have as its apparently under the bonnet of a Rover V8.

Confused ?

Ebay have pulled the listing now though but it did clear £36,000 for a Rover 416 spoof advert.
Barryboys have preserved the text and some of the pictures.
