Has anyone tried swapping the afm for a larger unit before?
I see the question come up on the boards all the time with people wanting to improve the intake with cold air kits or cone filters, Yes I know that the head is the real bottleneck..
The reason I mention this is that in the early Miata circle (90-93)models it is known that you can replace the afm with one from a 1986 RX7 the flapper door inside the unit is larger and will allow for 15% more flow. You simply reuse the electronics from from your afm. This can cause the car to run rich however you can tune it yourself or have it done for you.
I have one on my Miata and gained 4hp on the dyno after tweaking the afm. This was a cheap mod since a used RX7 afm only cost me $35. on ebay..
I am wondering if this has ever come up before of if the afm from one of the other models are larger?
Just thought with all the experts someone may know specs on some of the other afm units? _________________ Scott Martin

You can buy a MAF from Lindsey Racing, but they are quite expensive. _________________ Toofah King Bad

I myself am not in the maket for one just yet.
Tryinh to see if this has been tried or is it worth the effort? _________________ Scott Martin
