Hey guys, I have a few q's, i sort of want to swap the T-Tube out of my car w/one that i have from a parts car. I need to know i have only ever taken one out, do i HAVE to disconnect the brake lines in the rear??? and the other q is how can i tell if the one i have from the parts car is any good? I took it out of the car last fall, and it sat outside all fall and winter uncovered.
Thanks Guys!!!

| When I did mine, I did seperate the brake line. Not too much trouble. I rebuilt the tube I had. While time consuming, the proceedure is not difficult, the bearings cost 50 dollars, and 20 dollars to a machine shop to remove and replace the bearings into the bearing holders. I would not go to all the trouble to put in another tube, since those bearings are old and noisy as well. |

Explain doing the brake lines -just undo them and then just redo them and then, bleed the brakes. When I replaced a clutch I didnt undo the brakes ..

I meant that i might want to swap out my torqe tube because i have repalced everything else and havent fixed my problem. I want to know if there is any other way to get the t-tube out without undoing the brake lines cause i absolutely SUCK at bleeding brakes.

Mark, It might be possible to get this done if you remove the transmission, then put a floor jack under the rear axle assembly. You run the risk of tweaking the hydraulic hose and the brake line. Better to read up on how to bleed brakes. It is a usefull skill to have.
When you do this project, bleeding the brakes will be the easiest thing to do. I found that removing and rebuilding the tube to be a considerable PITA. I think it was worth it. The car is MUCH quiter now. |
