Does anyone have a source for a replacement front valance for my 87 924S? I know the ones from Porsche aren't terribly expensive, but as this is for my race car, it won't last long, so cheaper is better.

I just bought mine from the local Porsche dealer for $200. I have seen them in the Tweeks catalog for $119. The tweeks part is aftermarket though. I was going for that perfect factory look and that is why I spent the extra. I have not seen the Tweeks part, but did not want to chance it not being perfect.

Hey, send me some pics of the racecar! Welcome!

How do you manage against the Speedsource RX7's?

Can't beet Sylvan or David. Second weekend out in the car (Kershaw May 2000), I beat all the Mazda's but Kent Thompson. Had to take off since July 2000 due to a shunt at Mid-Ohio. Finished 5th in the ECR at Roebling last Saturday, but locked brakes and ended up in the turn 1 tires on Sunday, hence the need for a new valance.

Local dealer has one for $199. Tweeks price is $119, but they are back-ordered and the next shipment is all spoken for. So I guess I am off to PAP to search the boneyard!

Try your local source at Automobile Atlanta if you can put up with their smartass attitude.

Thanks, I actually used to work for George when I was in high school (20+ years ago). I get along much better with Joe at PAP. (I used to prep Joe's 968 IMSA car.) PAP is a bit out of the way, but he does have a rather large 924 inventory AND he will let me pull my own stuff.

PAP is Porsche Audi Parts in Murryville GA. ( http://www.pap-parts.com ). Joe Cogbill is the owner, he has three SCCA national championships in E-production with a speedster and campaigned a Fabcar 968 in IMSA from 94 to 96.

Peter had a 931 valance for about $40. Small amount of surface rust on it. But remember these have extra cooling slots for the oil cooler and brakes. Would be great for a race car or for hot 924S or such.

Peter is here PHoliat@aol.com

Thanks Eric, the SCCA rules require the original (or replacement) valance. You can only cut holes for brake cooling, not anything else.

I'm getting my replacement valence from performance products. It's the original and it took about 3 weeks to get it (backorder from supplier). $299 I think.

Mich924, FYI- my local dealer (Jim Ellis Porsche) has a factory piece in stock for $199. While I was in Columbus OH , the guys at Midwestern Auto Group (MAG) got an OEM one for me for less than $200 also.

Mich924s,

Not to be critical...but....why would you pay $299 for this item when it is available from the dealer for $100 less and no shipping? These cars already cost enought to keep up with!
