Is there a V8 swap that allows the stock hood with no scoop or hole?

I bet you have to have some elaborate fuel injection system, yes? Carbs seem to require punching a hole in the hood.

LT1 or 4.3 v6 fit. A 60 degree engine also fits well like GM's 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4 liter as well as their new 35xx series. Ford v6 and 302 v8 fit.

LS1 requires modifying the hood..... but its worth it

The LS conversion does not require anything different than the LT1. The only modification to the hood is sometimes cutting the inner brace above the throttle body. The 4.3Lv6 with FI is much higher than the hood. There was a car on e-bay a while back with a FI 4.3 Chevy. It stuck way out of the hood. I haven't seen any v8 or v6 carbed engine that doesn't stick through the hood.

Check out the Porsche Hybrids board. http://www.porschehybrids.com/php/

There are lots of pictures of conversions both carbed and FI. Originally I tried to lower my SBC by modifing the crossmember to get the carb under the hood but could only lower it so about 1" stuck through. I ended up replacing the crossmember and going with an LT1 intake and injection.
I haven't seen a v6 that is low enough to fit under the hood. The 60 deg v6 GM's are all higher than a Chevy v8's. There is a problem with intake manifolds on FI 5.0L Fords too.

I stand corrected - this is the correct info...

Although the LS series engine in my car requires additional clearance so we are modifying the hood.

Audi 3.6 or 4.2 V8, aluminum block, very compact unit... bolts to factory bellhousing.

The approx sizes of the Audi ABZ V8 engine -
Length of engine (front pulley to bellhousing face) = 490mm (19 3/16")
Max width of engine (across exhaust manifolds) = 760mm (29 15/16")
Max height of engine (sump to idle air valve) = 660mm (26")

One thing that Renigade Hybrids has to help is spacers for the crossmember and rear a-arm. Some have used these for extra clearance. With my oun mounts and oil pan the throttle body clears the hood brace by about 1/2".
