No decoder will tell me what it is.

This is on a 1982 931. Other options are the usual stuff (C02, 409, 425 and 431) - pretty basic.

Did your car originally come from Denmark ????

Is the code in a circle or square ?

porsche wont tell you either, they have no idea..
my best guess , is that it is the special edition package...

if youve got it on your build tag, that will make two of us, total..
interesting both are 82 931's .
my car has: leather sport seats, sport wheel (small diameter 4 spoke) , came with premium sound (wohooo, three speakers, blau, fader!) 16" trash cans, and a "SE" decal package that i thought was after market till two porsche certified mechanics told me otherwise (its a bit cheesy looking, but it grew on me )
then again, it could be something else, i havent found anyone else with so maybe we could compare notes and figure it out...

Ok, mine has:

4-spoke leather steering wheel
From factory it had sports seats, as one of the codes says, but now it has 944 power leather seats.
I also have a fader knob (disconnected and butchered )

I have these basketweave (?) wheels, the ones with a gazillion spokes.

The mother%$^%r PO painted the car at what looks like MAACO. I bet it looked way better before... Anyway, all decals I have are some regular 924 turbo decals he got from somewhere. Do you have any pictures of your decals btw?

Oh, and it's a USDM model with a cat converter, but it's not a california model. It's Guards Red. The code is in line with all the regular codes, right after C02, looks like "just another code" - I found it on this paper tag glued to the back of the trunk wall. Looks like a computer printout or a receipt, almost.

Ok, so the spoiler I have must have come from a 944... Great.

By the way, is that an A/C control thingie inbetween the two gauges? I could never get that, I have two, just like the ones in the picture. Do I need both of them?...

the large knob between the gauges controls your a/c, outer ring is temperature adjustment and the inner ring is fan speed.
the small knob also controls air fan speed, but only when the a/c is off. that one controls fresh air and heat .
the sliders let you adjust temperature and adjust air flow between the dash , defrost, and under dash vents.

the big ac controls override the small fan control. you need them both if you have a working a/c system, or want a working a/c system.
the set up is rare for 924/931 (though basically the same as the prior, just set up a little different and more effective.) it is the same as the early 944.

I upgraded to a 944 spoiler shortly after i got it, using a 924S hatch. among other things..

Turbo had blown and has since been rebuilt. Rebuilt engine to remove any debris and it currently requires a set of main bearings ($300). The bearings are easy to find as there is an entire racing circuit built around these cars. I have to concentrate on business and will need to invest in it instead of this toy. One should not miss a chance to own a Porsche, especially when it can be this muchfun.$3,000 obo

Funny thing, I have option 431 as well - "Leather steering wheel 363mm". Does it mean I get TWO leather steering wheels? I wish, the one I have now was so poorly cared for that after I removed the ugly cover thing, the leather simply came off in large cracked flakes.

same here.. so either we both have the wheel listed twice, or e-18 isnt a leather wheel..

From a 944 option code
M018 - SPORTS STEERING WHEEL WITH ELIVATED 30 MM HUB
M431 - 4 SPOKE LEATHER 363 MM STEERING WHEEL

From a 928 option code
018 Sports Steering Wheel with Elevated Hub -30mm

Pelican parts
018 Leather STR Wheel/Raised Hub 380MM(Not Available w/ Airbags)
431 Leather Steering Wheel 363MM (Not Available w/Airbags)

So I would say you have a leather streering wheel with a raised hub.

My '82 931 is an original California car and option codes are
C02 E18 409 431

It has black interior with leather sport seats, the 3 spoke sport steering wheel, and 15" mesh wheels!

I too have no idea what E18 is but Ive been told by several people it was a package that a lot of 931's had in '81 and '82!

Do any of you guys with E18 have sway bars? Maybe its some kind of sports package. Although It had no 220 limted slip which I wish it did because I had to find an early 944 transaxle with 220!

considered the wheel hub, but i dont think thats it. 018 and E18 are two different options imo , since all option codes are pretty specific by nature, i cant really see them sticking an e where the zero would go unless it denoted something different.

no rear sway on my car, nor lsd, but all other available sport options are there.

Mine has an off-center steering wheel, 4-spoke... Is this what they mean by "raised hub"? It's exactly like the one 924guy has.
